The EUSA delegation led by Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik and Executive Committee member Mr Milan Zvan had the opportunity to see for themselves everything that had been done in the previous months in the organization of the fifth European Universities Games 2021 in Belgrade.

Together with the leading people from the organization EUG 2021, the guests of the Serbian capital had the opportunity to see a lot done in the reconstruction process of the “Student City” dormitory in New Belgrade, visited the reconstructed sports center “Sumice”, and concluded their visit with a working meeting with the rector of the University of Belgrade, Ms Ivanka Popovic. Mutual desire to make the Games the best possible promotion of university sports, the city of Belgrade and Serbia, was emphasized.

We came to see the form of EUSA and the organizing committee, but also to send a message to our partners, universities and associations who wonders what will happen, that we do everything to make the Games organized at the highest possible level. We do everything for that purpose and we believe that all guests of Belgrade will feel good. We used the first opportunity after the measures were relaxed to come to Belgrade, that was our desire. It is very important to point out, and it is related to the issue of legacy, that these six months have not passed waiting for what will happen, but that a lot has been done. On that behalf, I congratulated Director Mr Juskovic. The big part of this project is the reconstruction of the Student City. Everyone who lives there, who lived, this or last year, had to notice the difference. There are also sports facilities that have been reconstructed. We will all work together to show the whole community a positive image and to spread the optimism that is necessary nowadayssaid Pecovnik during his visit to the Rectorate.

The fifth European Universities Games 2021 in Belgrade, which will be held from July 14 to 27, will bring together more than 5,000 athletes from 400 universities from 40 European countries.
