Work on the organization of the fifth European Universities Games 2021 in Belgrade continues at full speed. The first day of the two-day visit to Belgrade, the EUSA delegation spent in the Student City, where together with the EUG 2021 organizational leaders’ team, they could see what was done on the reconstruction of accommodation and all other facilities at the largest student place in this part of Europe.
Works in the future “Athletes village”, whose modernization will be the most important legacy of the most massive sports competition in Europe next year, continued during the previous months and came to the final phase. Assistant Director for Accommodation of the Student Center “Belgrade”, Dragana Vujačić, introduced the delegation with what has been done, but also with what is still to be done so that “Studenjak” shines in full glory at the end of the largest infrastructure project since its founding.
Construction and craft works were done in all rooms, bathrooms were renovated and furniture, laminate and complete lighting were replaced. A complete reconstruction of the hallway was done. The new air conditioning system is in its final stage. Video surveillance has been installed and everything is ready for connecting buildings with wireless internet, for which all the necessary equipment was procured. An automatic fire alarm system has also been installed. Plan is to reconstruct the transformation station.
Besides the reconstructed accommodation facilities, EUSA delegation led by Secretary General Matjaž Pečovnik and Executive Committee member Milan Žvan in the company of EUB Director Predrag Jušković, had a chance to visit a modernized student restaurant, followed by work meeting.
Belgrade and Serbia will host the fifth European Universities Games from July 14 to 27, 2021, where more than 5,000 athletes from 400 universities from 40 European countries will participate.
